What Is Executive Management?

Executive management is concerned with managing various activities in an organization that is related to executives or top-level managers in an organization. Executive management involves managing the overall performance of an organization as well as managing various programs or departments in an organization.

Moreover, executive managers are usually positioned at senior levels in organizations and they play a crucial role in achieving organizational goals and objectives as well as running the smooth day-to-day functioning of an organization. They not only manage various departments or programs but also help in planning and decision-making processes related to these programs or departments. This means that executive managers are involved with activities like budgeting, planning, preparing organizational charts, preparing organizational policies, etc.

Executive managers are directly involved with all kinds of strategic decisions which help in achieving organizational goals and objectives as well as helping organizations be more efficient and effective in their operation.

Executive managers play a crucial role at various levels of organizations depending on the nature of their responsibilities and duties assigned to them by higher authorities or executives or top management officials in an organization. For example, there may be some executive managers who may be responsible for managing just one department while there may be some executive managers who may be responsible for managing several different departments within their control or purview besides several other important areas of operation within their organizations like research & development activities, production-related activities, etc.

Executive managers must have great analytical skills. This is because they have to analyze a situation and then figure out ways and means to achieve organizational goals or objectives as efficiently as possible. They have to draw up plans and strategies for attaining these organizational goals or objectives and then put them into action. 

•Strategic Planning Skills

Executive managers must possess strong strategic planning skills. This is because they have to plan and prepare strategies for achieving organizational goals or objectives. They have to identify the priorities of their organizations and then devise strategies for attaining these priorities in the most efficient possible way. 

•Interpersonal Skills

Executive managers must possess great interpersonal skills to be able to work with all kinds of people positively to achieve a common goal. 

•Leadership Skills

Executive managers must possess strong leadership skills to be able to lead people towards attaining the common organizational goals or objectives. This is because they have to motivate their team members and lead them towards achieving these goals or objectives. 

•Decision Making Skills

Executive managers must be able to make correct and timely decisions based on the information available to them. This is because they have to make decisions about various issues or problems related to different departments or activities within an organization.
